The Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 2 is one of the most distinctive subwoofers ever made — a compact, cast-aluminium form designed by David Lewis that looks as considered as it sounds. Introduced in 2001 as the bass foundation for Bang & Olufsen's home cinema systems, it remains a seriously capable active subwoofer in any music or AV setup.
At its heart is an 850-watt ICEpower class-D amplifier — Bang & Olufsen's own technology, and a remarkable amount of clean power for a cabinet this size. Rather than relying on a large enclosure, the BeoLab 2 uses a single active woofer flanked by two opposed passive radiators that cancel each other's vibration, so the cabinet stays quiet and the bass stays tight and controlled. Adaptive Bass Linearisation, B&O's patented system, continuously manages the driver to deliver deep low end without strain, and a rubber ring base isolates the unit from the floor.
A three-position sensitivity switch and adjustable crossover make it straightforward to integrate and balance to a room. It connects to a Bang & Olufsen system through a single Power Link cable, with the sub's internal filters passing the higher frequencies on to the main speakers. It can also be partnered with non-B&O amplifiers and AV receivers using a suitable powered Power Link adapter cable, widely available from specialist suppliers.
Condition: In good working order and good cosmetic condition for its age. There are a few marks consistent with use — please see the photographs, which form part of the description.
