This is the bias (anti-skate) guide wire fitted to early examples of the SME 3009 Series II Improved tonearm, the wheel-type variant produced before the later plastic-housed design. It is a single-piece metal wire form with a wound spring collar at one end and an open hook at the other, fitting under the base clamp nut nearest the turntable.
