This is an original SME arm rest for the 3009 Series II tonearm, of the early type with metal hoop retaining clip that distinguishes it from the later all-plastic Improved version. It also fits the 3009 Series II Improved and 3012 tonearms. The arm rest forms an integral part of the arm pillar, serving as a rest and lock alongside the damped lifting and lowering lever.
