The dashpot cueing mechanism is the damped cueing control fitted to the SME 3009 and 3012 Series II tonearms, allowing the arm to be lowered and raised smoothly onto the record surface. This is an early Series II example of the assembly, comprising the pivot block, threaded locking collar and cueing lever.
