This is the armtube (arm wand) section from an early SME 3009 Series II tonearm, sold as an individual spare component rather than a complete arm. The 3009 Series II was SME's J-shaped pickup arm fitted with steel knife-edge vertical bearings and precision ball-race horizontal bearings, with anti-skating applied via a calibrated hanging weight on a thread.
