- Anti-Skate Mechanism: Weight-and-thread (hanging bob-weight on nylon cord) system; notched bias lever rod allows cord to be positioned at the appropriate notch corresponding to the set tracking force
- Bias Guide Construction — Early vs Later: The Series II and early Series II Improved bias guide is a single metal piece. Later Improved versions had a plastic housing at the top with a pulley wheel; a further variant is all-metal with a metal wheel.
- Bias Guide Positioning Instruction: Position the bias guide so that the thread is at approximately 90° to the bias lever when the stylus is over the outer groove of a 12" record; rotate the guide pulley housing to align it with the thread which must lie in the groove of the pulley.
- Bias Guide Mounting: Secured to the tonearm Sub Assembly via the same acorn clamp nuts and bolts used to fasten the bedplate
- Standard Bias (Anti-Skate) Weight: 2.9 g (nominally called '3 g'); covers tracking forces from 0.25 g up to 2.5 g. A heavier 5.6 g weight exists for tracking forces from 0.5–5.0 g.
- Arm Finish (SME 3009 Series II): Satin chrome plate, gun black and polished stainless steel
- Bias (Anti-Skate) Compensation Method: Adjustable by hooking a nylon cord around the appropriate notch on a small rod at the rear of the arm; each notch corresponds to a calibration mark on the tracking force scale
